The Music Class is excited to offer programming for independent living facilities in Metro Atlanta. Music Pups® with Seniors invites families with young children to join residents in a joyful, fun music class featuring a wide variety of music, instruments and movement.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Independent living centers provide a room for the class, sufficient parking for the attending families (approximately 11 parking spots), and invite their residents to join in on the fun. The Music Class provides a teacher, children and their parents to sing, dance, and enjoy music with the seniors during a 10-week session of classes.
WHERE DO WE FIND THE FAMILIES WHO WILL ATTEND?
The Music Class invites families who are currently enrolled in our early childhood music and movement classes to attend a second class once a week at a discounted class fee. This way, we know the families who will be attending and they will benefit from reinforcing the concepts we teach in our regular classes.
WHAT FAMILIES HAVE SAID ABOUT THE PROGRAM
"My child loved waving to all the seniors as we did songs where we stood up and danced. I think it's good exposure for her to be around older people as well. I personally loved seeing how much they seemed to enjoy it as well."
"The best part of my experience with The Music Pups® with Seniors was connecting with some of the residents. And I think my child enjoyed helping hand out instruments and collecting them from the residents."
"The seniors seemed to enjoy the class and especially enjoyed our teacher and her dynamic personality. Our teacher did an excellent job with the seniors and has a good demeanor and energy for the job."
WHAT RESIDENTS HAVE SAID ABOUT THE PROGRAM
"I just want to hug them!"
"Music is lovely, it recognizes the flow of life. This is the nicest activity I have attended since living here."

WHY DO WE OFFER THIS PROGRAM?
The Music Class has seen how meaningful cross-generational interaction can be and are happy to provide classes that foster cross-generational relationships. The following video was recorded at Providence Mount St. Vincent in Seattle, where a preschool was added to an indepent living facility. It is a wonderful example of this.
